Finding a job has become a whole new process with the advent of the internet. Gone are the days of buying a Sunday paper and scouring the help wanted section. About the only thing that remains the same are head hunters and how they operate. But, if you are not being recruited by a head hunter, how do you find a job?

Job Posting Websites

Job postings were all over the place a number of years ago, but things have settled down a bit and now the major players are taking most of the attention in the job posting space. You know the names, monster.com and craigslist.org really control most of the volume of job postings. These sites are where the vast majority of job searches begin…but, do they end there as well?

Strategy

Most people are in a situation where they are under a lot of pressure to find a new job. They may not sped as much time planning out the job searching process as much as they should. Most people should probably consider taking it a step further and think about what it is they really want to do with their time and where they want to be in 5 to 10 years. Thinking about these types of things will make a big difference in people’s lives and also give them much more direction and focus in their job hunt and interviews. For many, going to or back to school may be the answer. This can seem like a terrible idea to many as applying to college, taking entrance exams and writing essays are the last things they want to be doing with their time. But, they may be a means to an end. Something for many people to consider.

Financial Aid Woes

While middle class families are getting squeezed today, financial aid is needed to help with the soaring costs of a college education in this country. There is really no other way to make it possible for a student to attend college in many families without using some kind of fiancial aid or college loan. Hopefully, there will be real reform and funding of the US college and university system to help alleviate many of the financial issues that students face today.
